Sometimes the marker icon flickers, why?
Marker flickering can occur when the map camera's elevation is too low. The appearance of marker flicker is correlated with lower quality map data from Apple Maps and has been observed in regions of the world where Apple has not yet collected "Fly Over" data. In geographic regions with Fly Over data no flicker has been observed at any camera elevation. In regions without Fly Over data flicker can be see at very low (< 2500m) elevations. Our testing has found that in regions without Fly Over data that the threshold elevation for observing marker flicker varies. The fix for marker flickering will have to come from Apple but fortunately in the short term there is an easy fix: simply increase the map camera's elevation until the flickering disappears.
